"Guess what mom? I survived Blizzard Ann! I got to see the trailer for Tim Burton's new film, The Corpse Bride. Got it from poufywerewolf's journal and it looks great! It has the same sort of animation as The Nightmare Before Christmas and "The Hall of the Mountain King" is playing in the background! ( <333 That music since elementary school ) Trailer here. I'm going to be getting a cell phone this weekend! I'm really excited, I can call anyone in the US for FREE on weekends and after 9 on weekdays! WhooOOoo! It might apply to Canada though too, I should check into that. But yes, I want to get a cheap, sexy flip phone and then can enjoy putting everyone's numbers in. ^^ "I love technology..." After school yesterday I caught a ride with Shannon to the grocery store to pick up cheap snacks then returned to her house. I played with Rattiekins ( I can never remember her pet rat's names so I make up dumb ones for them XD ) while she cleaned the bathroom and did Van Halen karaoke with the toilet plunger. Vogele came after awhile and we sat downstairs to watch two hours of Stargate SG-1. I didn't really like it, but didn't say anything because Vogele probabbly would have left if we didn't watch it. XD While we were eating downstairs Shannon's mom came down to see if we wanted to spend the night since the weather was getting really bad. It was okay with Vogele but my parents wouldn't let me because Shannon had been sick on Monday and yet they wouldn't pick me up even though it was blizzarding out. So we watched Napoleon Dynamite, which I loved, and then walked home boot-less through Blizzard Ann and knee-deep snow so I wouldn't catch a cold. There's logic for you. I was still pissed about not being able to stay over when I woke up this morning and confined myself to watching a bit of TV ( I don't watch a lot of TV ). I watched a show called W.i.t.c.h. and although it probablly isn't teaching our children political correctness when it comes to wiccians or pagans, I thought it was a pretty sweet show. I like the art, and it seems like something Casey and Caroyln would have watched when they were younger. So I guess now I have three shows to watch! I did go out to the mall to look at phones today, but saw that the Norwegian/Swedish shop was having major discounts so I got two pins that said "I'm Swedish, but I'm taking pills for it" and "Pray for me, my wife is Swedish". XDD YESS! Not to mention I finally got to stop my the grocery store to get a money order for my Harry and the Potters shirt. My sister also forbade me from Napoleon Dynamite impressions because I sound to much like him. XD Studio Ghibli special coming out in next month's Animerica, can't wait! [January 22, 2005 - 6:25 p.m.] "This is loverly" Brilliant day today, even if it was a bit boring. I got to wear some new clothes and I felt really in tune with all my classes. Several friends were gone for sickness among other things, but at least Ryan was there in Math. He's my genius that gets us extra credit while I joke around and draw pretty pictures on our papers. He's cute. My dad also surprised me this morning with several pins he got from the DC Comics booth at his work convention. ( Talk about random. ) They're awesome. Johanna and I started our Web class today, I have a feeling I'll have a lot of free computer time. Now all I need to do is find Monica and time when she can teach me how to crochet. Oh! And my mom got me two new journals last night, very pretty little things. I'll have fun with those. I want a party this weekend. Killer Angels is a very sexy book. EDIT: Lord, so nice to have the speakers working again. I've been missing my playlist like crazy. And did anyone see Lost this week? I time recorded but still missed the last couple of minutes. ( I always joked about the content episode but never really expected it! o.o ) [January 17, 2005 - 9:07 p.m.] "Boston Journal Reporter, back from MA!" Well, I'm home! Wonderful, wonderful time in Boston. I'm rather glad we went the time of year we did, I don't think the city would have been as beautiful in the summer or spring. There was a gray, wet feeling over the city, I loved it. My favorite days were the first that we were there, we took the subway to the hotel and when I caught sight of the melted snow dripping down the subway stairs I knew I would love the city. The grey sky and light snow on the ground made the trees look back and turned the whole place into a black and white picture-- of a city of rain and fog. Favorite places were: Boston Public Library: Stunning murals, there were great archways and even a courtyard! There was a room upstairs with wood paneling and all around the top was one of my passions, the story of the Holy Grail. Arthurian legend fascinates me. Museum of Fine Arts: There were some great displays on olden-day dresses when we came through. I didn't get enough time at this place either, there were some Indian displays that I didn't even get to look at. They did have several impressionism paintings, although none of them were the De Ga dancer paintings I liked. Boston Aquarium: My sister and I cooed over the penguins and seals for most of the day. What can I say? I'm a sucker for most animals smaller than a breadbox. And seals are one of my favorites, mostly because I'm so in love with selkies. Gargoyles Grotesques & Chimeras: A really beautifully gothic little shop on Newbury St. I wish I could have more time to sort through everything in the shop. I only had a couple of minutes and picked up some wonderful black and white photos of gargoyles on Notre Dame. Boston Commons: I would actually have liked to see this park in the summer. When the fountains hadn't been drained and the pond wasn't frozen. I'll bet it's wonderful. It was nice while we were there though too, and one night when I looked out it was covered in ground mist, such eerie beauty. Freedom Trail: I mostly liked the cemeteries on the trail. The headstones were so lovely and old. Not only that, but I loved the cobbled streets that ran around the Green Dragon. Subway: The Boston Subway was much better than other public transports I've been on, and there was a train called Wonderland! Riding around on it seeing signs reading "Transfer here to go to Wonderland" was really fun. It also had a tone that none of the other cars had. I looked at some thrift stores while I was there and was disgusted at the high prices. I mean really, there was nothing under $60 in either store. And when we looked for left-over merchandise from the LoTR exhibit at the MoS we found: two busts of Sauruman and some BBC recordings of the books. And then on top of all that, when we were both on our way to Boston and coming back, our first flights were delayed and very nearly missed our second plane. We were literally running through the MN airport trying to get to our gate, the response of the man scanning our boarding passes was: "Wow. You made good time!" The trip really ended Sunday night when my sister and I got dressed up and went to a fancy-schmancy party at the Ritz-Carleton. The bellman in the lobby that directed us upstairs was quite possibly one of the most handsome men I have ever seen. I wandered around the party ( 'twas full of librarians ) with 7up in a champagne glass. After a couple of hours we turned up our hoods and walked back to our hotel through the light snow, full of fancy finger desserts and strawberries. [January 17, 2005 - 9:07 p.m.] "Oh my, look at those statistics!" A) Roughly four people read my LJ. XD B) I don't seem to be able to keep up with my LJ flist as of late, sorry if I've missed anyone's important entries. C) I'm leaving for Boston, Wednesday after school, let's home it doesn't turn out to be an episode of Lost. I might be online for a bit tomorrow though. Had a great weekend, spent mostly with Ebo, Vogele, and Cai. We went to the thrift store on the other side of town Saturday, I found a great striped shirt that makes me feel like Charlie Brown and a Superman shirt which I bought for my sister Erin. On Sunday the same girls came over to my house to watch Ocean's Eleven and The League of Extrodinary Gentlemen, we ordered pizza and joked around through most of the movies. 'Twas fun. Ugg, I'm going to be missing semester finals on Thursday and Friday. Thankfully I only have one final, in Algebra 2, which I'd like to do before I leave. Then I can have a worry-free trip. Hee. I should send postcards. X3 [January 10, 2005 - 7:07 p.m.] "Trading Gorgeous Green with Blazing Blue" All my teams lost Monday, and the US last night. And with that, the World Junior Hockey Tournament ended. It's quite sad really, and it's a bit hard to explain why to someone who never went or only went to a couple games. It was like a big, week long party, it had really started to feel like home in Section 114. There is an up side though, team jerseys are now on sale! And when I came home last night, not only was there Pizza Hut waiting for us but a TEAM SWEDEN JERSEY! I was ( and am still am ) ecstatic. Too bad I didn't get it earlier so I could try and get for the team to sign it, but then again I probablly wouldn't want to wear it so much if they had. Oh, it's the blue one, by the way. I really hope that I can go to the Tournament next year in Vancouver! I took some pictures toward the end of the tournament, of the games and of Erin's and mine face paint jobs-- we did it for nearly every game! New episode of Lost tonight, can't wait to see if my prediction is correct. I saw Fruit Basket for the first time last night, I really liked it! I saw episodes 1-4, I think it's an adorale show. Can't wait to get ahold of the rest of them. [January 5, 2005 - 4:05 p.m.] "How exciting!" The voice of my Swedish hockey player woke me around noon, telling me that if I wanted to be in time for my sexy party, I had better ring for breakfast. Actually, that happened before I woke up, to the abrupt screeching of my alarm clock. Going back to school after a long break is always rather hard, isn't it? Well thankfully I wasn't planning on being there the whole day, there are World Junior hockey games to go to, after all! The first game was at noon, Belarus vs Germany. Erin picked me up just after I got out of class for lunch and I signed out in the office, my excuse being: Appointment.. ( With Team Belarus ). Bought something to eat when I got there and the intense cheering began, my team lost anyways. XD Still, the afternoon had that great feeling that you get when you know you could be at school, and aren't. Sweden vs Finland game tonight, I was a little sad because I really like both of those teams but I suppose I'll be cheering Sweden on tonight. I was waiting for USO or Vamp to come on so they could translate some poster phrases into Swedish for me. Face painting just isn't enough, you know? USO says: "Then in med pucken i mål and the clasic then glider in, then glider in, then glider in i mål igen!" or "Heja sverige, heja sverige!" Pretty exciting! I adore all chances to get dressed up and go wild cheering for something! Several friends have told me they'll be there tonight so I suppose I should start homework. Doing homework, another resolution for this year. X3 [January 3, 2005 - 3:51 p.m.] "Party like it's 1999 (But really it's 2005)" Well, my New Year's was pathetically fun. Went out to dinner with the family, when we came home we ate mouranges and while played 2800. Before long we all got bored with that and went downstairs to watch the RoTK EE on the new widescreen. =_= So predictable. At midnight I stood up and yelled "HAPPY NEW YEARS" but was quite drowned out by the crashing of the skulls falling down in the Cave of Dead. By the time the movie finished I had developed a twitch in my right eye, I need to get more sleep. I have some resolutions for 2005 which I think I'll keep to myself, along with some hopes for the new year. On Monday after school I'm going to go to Best Buy and buy the three-pack of the LoTR EE versions. And then whenever people ask me "What's the first thing you'd save in a fire?", I'll have a definite answer! A week and a half of school and then my out again for our trip to Boston. OHO! I don't really mind going back with that sort of schedule, and I believe there are World Juniors games going on for most of the time as well. There's certainly several games today, I'm going to the last two games, so my New Year Day will be spent eating Mini Donuts and cheering for people who don't understand the English language. Cheers! [January 1, 2005 - 10:53 a.m.] "LIZZIE BADEN SAYS..." Yay! I FINALLY got the published book of our writing from the Writing Camp this summer. There's-- wait a minute-- WHO THE HELL IS LIZZIE BADEN!? Everything I submitted is published under the name LIZZIE BADEN!! There wasn't even a LIZZIE BADEN in the program! MY NAME DOSEN'T EVEN SOUND LIKE LIZZIE BADEN!! My clever autobiography isn't in here either! The best part is, it's actually mailed to me, my name is correct on the envelope and everything! Was I actually so unnoticable in there that they'd been calling me Lizzie Baden for two weeks? KK and KS are going to be getting a real fuckin happy e-mail about this. Lizzie's week has been going pretty well, she had a great time dressed up as a princess at Panda Buffet during Shannon's party. She had to wash off the Swiss flags off her flace before she went, but it was worth it. She wasn't expecting to get Shonen Jump yesterday considering she stopped suscribing. It was a good issue to leave off on though, she got a free Yu-Gi-Oh Online game in it, some hilarious fan letters, and foxy Yami Bakura shots. Not sure what we're doing for New Years tonight, I believe movies, which is always fun. Best wishes for a happy New Years! -- LIZZIE BADEN <3 EDIT: Okay I'm better now. XD [December 31, 2004 - 10:24 a.m.] P-R-I-N-C-E-S-S P-A-R-T-Y! Happy 16th to Shannon! Shall be dropping by to entertain her party guest after the Sui vs Cez game. I suppose I'll have to wash off my Swiss flags before I go. And now, to finish off watching the commentary for the RoTK EE. [December 29, 2004 - 11:36 a.m.] Canadians gone wild! Erin and I went over to the Sweden vs Canada game this afternoon. I went to cheer for Sweden with their flag painted on my cheeks and I drew maple leaves on Erin's face with oil pastels. The crowd turned out to be a huge wave of Canadian flags and Canadian paraphernalia, it was craziness! As suspected, Canada won but at least Sweden got a point in. Most of the fun was meeting the only other people cheering for Sweden sitting next to us. I only got the name of one of them though, James. They were two college guys, they were a riot and their hilarious signs got us on TSN! I was probably shown twice, screaming, yelling, with two Swedish flags on my face and James' "I'M HERE FOR THE CHICKS" sign bobbing over my head. XD Tell me if you saw me, my freaky darlings. I also went to Ocean's Twelve with Erin last night, I thought it was great. And I just came up from watching RoTK EE, which was also great. For everyone who was at writing camp this summer: Rhiannon won a Teen Page award for the "A Shark in the Stream" piece in the paper last summer! The one she read at the Urban Stampede reading? I thought that was rawrsome. [December 28, 2004 - 12:09 a.m.] "Merry Christmas!" Wai! I can't help but be a bit materialistic today, I'm so happy with everything I got for Christmas! Erin gave me an illustrated Fantasty of the 20th Century and 'Santa' brought me The Great Encyclopedia of Faeries, My Neighbor Totoro, Some Like it Hot, American McGee's Alice Soundtrack, The Annotated Alice by Martin Gardner, Eragon by Christopher Paolini, a couple books and a "strategic Nautical Game for 2 Pirates" called Rhumb Line. One of my Aunts gave me a Chinese Brush Painting Calendar. I also got a Blondie CD that someone already got me so I'll have to exchange it along with a new boombox because I think I'd like another kind. ^^ We have to eat dinner early since we're all going to the World Juniors games tonight. Dad and Erin to the Canada vs Czech and Mom and I are going to the US vs Russia afterwards. Going to be fun! RoTK EE will have to wait until tomorrow, apparently. Hope everyone is with family today, and having a very good time. <<<3 [December 25, 2004 - 8:43 p.m.] "Age of Empires and new wristbands" My hard drive sounds like an airplane taking off whenever it tries to do something for me. I was listening to it while I once again tried to install my two-year old FotR game. I dunno why I keep thinking it might work, I still haven't gotten a new video card for it. First whole day of vacation off, I spent most of the day at the mall and playing AoE with KC. One of the best games you'll ever play. If anyone has it, we need to hook up on MSN and get a multi-player game going! I also went through and organized my playlist, renamed and alphabetized them. XD I actually have 80 songs on it, more than I thought! Everything from the The Rasmus and Utada Hikaru to Decemberween and Coldplay. There's even some mozart remixes and disco songs, it's completely random, I assure you. Not only that, but I deleted over 1,500 files on my computer to clean it up. It's still very cluttered, but I suppose it's something. At the mall I spent the last of my cash on a leather Griffindor wristband at Hot Topic, I had wanted one since they came in but wasn't willing to buy one until it went on sale. That and Slythern were the only ones left, too bad I couldn't get the Hogwarts Crest or Ravenclaw, but I like mine all the same. Spent my $15 Maurices Gift Card to get an awesome bag, I love it. There's lots of room without it looking weird so I'll probably bring it to Boston. Now I have to start saving up for a fedora. X3 Wow, Christmas Eve is tomorrow. It really seemed to jump up on me. Although this season has always seemed to go fast. I don't know if I'll be posting tomorrow, so I wish a very happy Christmas to you and yours. <3 [December 23, 2004 - 7:10 p.m.] "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." Christmas cards? What? Yeah, I'll be doing that tomorrow, since we get out early. But I'm afraid that means they might not be in time for Christmas. Well.. I'll just be continuing the Christmas spirt a couple days afterwards, right? I am finished with all Christmas shopping though, that's the best part. A Series of Unfortunate Events was good, I liked the credits and the music espically. I AM COMPLETELY THRILLED THAT HP 6 IS FINISHED! We got a new HUGE widescreen TV last weekend, it's so shiny and new that I don't feel like I should be watching anything on it. XD [December 21, 2004 - 8:43 p.m.] "Lovely, lovely, photo prints." Bucket, you're not online so I'll just say it: I LOVE the picture of you fucking around in front of the bakery case. *will scan later* The others turned out pretty good too, except I look like a sped in my Paul Simonon impression picture. ( "But you guys don't really like The Clash! You just think Paul's hot!" ) So, for those who wanted to see my over-rated Valleycon costume, I'll post it once I get the scanner going again. I've been out every night for the past two weeks, it feels pretty crazy. Last night I was out with Erin, milling through the $1 section at Target and at the library, today after school bucket stopped by my house with an armload full of Japanese candy and we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. ( Yes Sam, I'm rubbing it in again! ) She also burned me a Blondie CD which I'm going to listen to when I go upstairs, thanks so much! ^^ Tomorrow after school Erin's going to pick me up and we'll go to the first Series of Unfortunate Events showing possible. Mmm, Klaus. ( Yes, I know he's a little bit more then underaged.. ) There was also the swimming banquet tonight, it was weird being with all the swimmers again but nice to be officially done with the season. I got the 'Long Legs Award'. >.> Going to Vogele's hockey game this weekend and will be picking up more stamps to finish off the last of my X-Mas cards! [December 12, 2004 - 1:17 p.m.] "What do you want for Christmas, little boy?" So, what is this Pegsgiving? Last year a date was picked halfway in between Thankgiving and Christmas-- November 11th. It was decided that that day would be spent celebrating Pegasus' fruitiness. Nevermind we also just wanted another reason to go out and have a good time. It was all four of us again this year, Shannon, KC, bucket and I, we went out to the mall at 3:30 and exchanged Pegsgiving presents. Wandering around the mall was pretty fun, I didn't buy anything but I love the Harry Potter T-Shirts at Hot Topic that are now on sale. Might have to go back and check those out again. X3 We trudged over to Pizza Hut after a couple of hours, I used the wooly panda socks I got from KC as mittens. Our usual booth was taken, so we went for a table and basically talked about music the whole time. We still had three hours to burn once we were done, so we went out again and went over to the Dollar store. I got a package of "Teeny Bopper" lipstick, ( I kid you not, that was the name of the brand ) because there was a blue and purple in it. And also picked up some of those candies, you know, the small wax bottles with a drink inside. Remember those? We took them outside and although the drink really isn't very good, the whole fun is spitting out the wax parts at each other. It was pretty great, and it was actually really nice outside. Super One was next in the strip so we walked over there too, I took a picture of bucket being crazy in the bakery section and then I did an impression of Paul Simonon with a Playboy magazine. TJ Max ended our escapade, and everyone headed for home. I got most of my Christmas shopping done on Thursday when KC took bucket and I out but I still have to get somethings for family members. I bought Aria Volume 3 while there, there isn't a set release for the fourth and final one yet, but I can't wait. I really suggest it to manga lovers. Beautiful artwork, this magna is like a complete mix of all my favorite things. I bought it the first one rather randomly at Waldecon back in September and now it's one of my all-time favorites! My fingers are cold. I'd like to get my disposable camera developed today, I used up the last couple last night and I can't wait to see them all! I'm also hoping to get some work done in my room today, although I'm sure it won't happen. This is the last full week of school before Winter Holiday, very exciting since I'm hoping with all the manga I've been selling I can buy the Studio Gihbli Box Movie Collection! <3 [December 12, 2004 - 1:17 p.m.] "Paul Simonon in a pear tree!" Yes! That's right! The Shampoo layout is back by popular demand! And so is Selkie Wings, Torra's awesome personal site! Here she will keep blogg entries x-posted from her LJ and many other random things she sees fit to post! Her faulty web counter has recorded nearly 13k hits! So grab your digital camera and send her a fansign, draw her some Torra fanart, or dress yourself and your friends up in animal suits and have a party! ( Rediculous accounts of the party would also be accepted. ) I'm sending out Christmas cards this year, if you wanted to get one and I don't have your adress, send it to malik_chan[at]hotmail[dot]com. Remember to floss kids. [December 05, 2004 - 9:48 p.m.]
